Today when I went out for lunch, to my horror I realised that all the trees along Cross Street have been chopped to a stump. It used to be nice cool downstairs with the trees shading the walkways, but now its very hot. In this day and age when global warming and greenhouse gases are a major issue, why is the government allowing these old trees to be chopped to a stump? It is really terrible and horrifying to see the stumps...worse of all, the workers digging under the stump to uproot what is left.
Its is really sad for an island state which claims to be the Garden City to do such a thing? Are they going to plant something else in its place? The trees there used to provide nice shade and a respite from the afternoon sun, now there is nothing there at all. I wonder what is really going on here.
